The game of billiards has not always been played the way it is today. A few techniques evolved along the way. One such technique is the bankshot. This is a shot whereby the player hits the ball and deflects it off the banks of the billiards table, thus using this deflection to make a better shot. Based on this name, a software game was introduced recently called Bankshot Billiards.

The Bankshot Billiards game was developed and launched by PixelStorm on November 22, 2005. The game basically offers a few billiard game choices, such as Euro 8 Ball, 8 Ball, 9 Ball, 3 Ball, Cutthroat, 14.1 Continuous, Time Trial and Golf. Though golf is not a billiards game, it somehow matches with the rest of the contents. In this billiard pool game, multi players can take part, excluding the computer. It has crisp graphics and user friendly controls that can be mastered within half an hour of "hands on playing." Two players can also play as opponents on the same console while using Xbox live.

The Bankshot Billiards game is the answer for millions of billiard game fans all over the world who would like to play the game whenever they get a little free time, right on their laptops or PCs. While some people find the game brilliant and easy to grasp, other have stated that it is a little boring. The mixed response might be due the fact that a game of billiards can be pretty consuming when played on computer, yet when played live, it is most relaxing.

The software game launched by PixelStorm, though advanced and user-friendly, failed to capture the market in the manner envisioned. This is not to say that the game, Bankshot Billiards, has any lacunae. The verdict is undecided because some billiard game fans appreciate and commend the game, while others brand it as dull.
